We believe that learning should spark curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking—even in the earliest years of education. That’s why our Preschool STEM Friday program is designed to give young learners hands-on opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, and math in fun, engaging ways.
Exploring Science with the Rainbow Skittles Experiment
One highlight of our recent STEM Friday was the Rainbow Skittles Experiment, a simple but exciting activity that wowed students. Using colorful Skittles arranged in a circle on a plate, preschoolers watched as warm water dissolved the candy coating, creating a beautiful rainbow swirl.
This experiment not only delighted the children but also introduced them to important STEM concepts such as dissolving, color mixing, and observation skills. Teachers guided students in asking questions, making predictions, and talking about what they observed—building both scientific curiosity and communication skills.

A Fun Tradition at Phyl’s Academy
Preschool STEM Friday is a tradition that blends play with learning, giving our learners the chance to explore new ideas. Activities like the Rainbow Skittles Experiment show children that science is not only educational—it’s magical!
We’re proud of our students, and we can’t wait to see what discoveries they’ll make in future STEM Fridays.
