On January 17th, Phyl’s Academy proudly celebrated two of our 4th-grade MLK National Spelling Bee Winners. This achievement highlights the dedication, focus, and hard work of our students. Aurora and Nayeli have earned a place among the top competitors, demonstrating both skill and perseverance.
Aurora and Nayeli Advance to the Championship Round
Our talented 4th graders, Aurora and Nayeli, earned 4th and 5th place in the preliminary rounds. Their performance secured spots in the championship round on January 20, 2026. Both students devoted countless hours to studying and practicing their spelling. Their achievement reflects the rigorous academic preparation encouraged at Phyl’s Academy.
The preliminary round was intense, but Aurora and Nayeli remained calm and focused. Their ability to perform under pressure is a clear example of what sets MLK Spelling Bee winners apart. Students, teachers, and families celebrated their remarkable accomplishment with pride and excitement.
Inspiration from Guest Speakers
The event was further enriched by powerful words from Dr. Shabazz and Dr. Cornel West. Both speakers emphasized perseverance, confidence, and the importance of lifelong learning. Their inspiring messages reminded students that success is built not only on talent but also on dedication and a positive mindset. Aurora and Nayeli left the event motivated and encouraged to give their best in the finals.
