Drug Free Week 2024: Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free!

Drug Free Week is a national initiative that educates young people about substance abuse risks and healthy choices. Phyls Academy uses this opportunity yearly to reinforce drug-free values. Through interactive lessons and activities, students learn the importance of personal health and how their choices shape their futures.

This year’s events engaged students in daily activities and workshops that promoted awareness of drugs and alcohol dangers.

Highlights from the week included:

-Theme Days: Each day of Drug Free Week featured a unique theme such as “Red Day”; showing unity in committing to a drug-free lifestyle.

– Guest Speakers and Interactive Workshops: Community leaders and guest speakers joined to share messages of healthy living and positive choices. Older students attended workshops on peer pressure and decision-making. Younger students enjoyed interactive lessons on healthy habits.

– Creative Activities: Students expressed their commitment to staying drug-free by creating banners, posters, and pledges. These decorated the school throughout the week. Students’ creativity and enthusiasm reflect the positive environment we foster at Phyls Academy.

Activities during Drug Free Week encouraged students to make healthy choices. They also empowered students to support one another in building a strong, drug-free school community.

Annual Breast Cancer Walk: Honoring and Supporting Survivors

On October 25, Phyls Academy held the Annual Breast Cancer Walk to raise breast cancer awareness, support survivors, and honor affected families. Our school community walked for a cause close to our hearts, emphasizing the importance of solidarity, compassion, and support.

This annual event is a key part of our October calendar, dedicated to awareness and support for breast cancer research and patient care.

Highlights of this year’s Breast Cancer Walk included:

– Community Walk and Fundraiser: Students, teachers, and families joined for a morning walk around the school campus, proudly wearing pink. Our fundraiser encouraged donations, with all proceeds supporting a local breast cancer organization that provides resources and care for affected families.

– Personal Stories and Testimonials: Survivors and affected families shared personal stories, creating a moving experience for our students. This helped students connect with the real-life impact of breast cancer and the strength of those who face it.

– Educational Activities: Teachers led age-appropriate discussions on breast cancer awareness, early detection, and community support. These discussions helped students understand how participating in the walk can make a difference.

The Annual Breast Cancer Walk at Phyls Academy is more than an event. It is a celebration of resilience and commitment to a worthy cause. Phyls Academy Preparatory School believes education goes beyond the classroom. We teach students to engage in awareness initiatives. This approach fosters a well-rounded learning experience that emphasizes empathy, responsibility, and health.

Tips for Families to Continue Awareness Initiatives at Home

We encourage parents to join us in fostering awareness and healthy habits at home. Here are some tips to keep these important lessons going:

  1. Discuss Openly: Talk with your child about the importance of making healthy choices and the reasons behind participating in awareness events. Open dialogue reinforces the lessons learned in school.
  1. Practice Healthy Living: Lead by example in choosing a healthy lifestyle and encouraging family activities that prioritize wellness.
  1. Support Community Causes: Encourage your child to take part in local events, fundraisers, or community initiatives. These activities instill a sense of responsibility and connection with others.
