Celebrating 100 Days of Learning Through Play at Phyl’s Academy

learning through play

On January 28th, Phyl’s Academy students marked a major milestone—the 100th Day of School—with creativity, fun, and learning through play. The day highlighted how engaging and hands-on activities can make learning both exciting and memorable for young learners. Students, teachers, and families all enjoyed this special celebration.

A Fun and Creative 100th Day Celebration

Students dressed as if they were 100 years old, complete with gray hair, glasses, canes, suspenders, pearls, and charming “old-school” outfits. The hallways were filled with laughter and excitement as students proudly showed off their imaginative costumes. Teachers noted that the playful dress-up encouraged students to embrace creativity while celebrating a significant school milestone.

Activities included themed classroom games, interactive crafts, and collaborative learning challenges. This playful approach made the celebration a perfect example of learning through play, sparking curiosity and creativity while reinforcing important academic concepts. Students were engaged from start to finish, showing that learning can be joyful and hands-on at the same time.

Why Learning Through Play Matters

The 100th Day of School isn’t just about costumes. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on students’ growth, achievements, and milestones over the past 100 days. At Phyl’s Academy, events like this demonstrate how learning through play fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.

By making lessons fun and interactive, students are more likely to stay motivated and engaged. Playful learning also encourages imagination, confidence, and communication skills—tools that help children thrive academically and socially.

Building School Spirit and Community

Beyond academics, the celebration strengthened community and school spirit. Students shared smiles, creativity, and teamwork with classmates and teachers. Families also enjoyed participating in some of the day’s activities, creating a sense of unity and shared excitement.

The 100th Day of School celebration is a shining example of how Phyl’s Academy blends education and fun. It shows that learning through play is at the heart of every student experience, inspiring both curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.
